Recently, I come across a post in forum asking for advise if this Web Hosting Provider good, if that good?
This question seems to be asked many times. If you are just started and trying to look for a budget hosting plan that is bellow $10 a month, you might want to read further.
My advise will be, try to get a reputable ones. And ones that already been established for around 3 years.
There are many web hosting companies that are just set up. They receive very good comment when they have just started.
However, maybe due to the increase of clients base, their server become unstable, their support become worst.
For those web hosting providers that are around for 3 years, their services level should be quite stable to be taken as a benchmark. Nevertheless, you need to understand that things might change. You never know if your provider just outsource their support team to a cheaper one. And out of the sudden, their service level drop.
I am not applying that these web hosting providers will definitely have these issues, but you have to bear this point in mind when reading reviews from other hosting review sites. By the ways, if you are new to web hosting, do you really understanding what the hacks are these reviews talking about? Besides, how do you now if the reviews are TRUE. Many web hosting providers provide commission to sites that promoting them. So when you are reading these reviews, do you think you can differentiate between good and bad, real or fake? If not, what is the point to read the reviews?
Instead of typical long story of comparing features and service level. I cut the story short by telling you which one to join.
* Try not to purchase your Domain from your hosting provider. This can prevent confusion when you want to change hosting provider in the later time. I suggest you to use NameCheap as your domain provider. Before you register your domain, you might want to do a search in Google for “namecheap coupon” or “namecheap coupon listing”. You might be able to find a coupon to save you a dollar for each domain you wish to register.
Bellow are 3 of my recommendation:
[LAST UPDATED ON 31-JUL-2010]
1) Hostgator Baby Plan —- I non longer recommend Hostgator. It failed me. I moved to other hosting company.2) Bluehost – Web Hosting Provider—- I non longer recommend Bluehost.
3) REMOVED
Some popular web hosting providers that I do NOT recommend are
1and1 , Godaddy , IX Web Hosting , Midphase
Why are these hosting sites not recommended? It is the typical stories. If you still have question, do a further research.
Please set your expectation right. For less that US$10 per month, it is considered as budget hosting plan. So do not expect to run “heavy duty” script or high traffic sites on this plan. You might get your plan closed by the hosting company without any warning. Your sites might be sitting together with hundred of other sites in the same server box. Hard to complain about some downtime and lack of support. You paid for what you get. However, it is not as bad as you think 🙂
If you just started, you can start with a budget plan, and upgrade when you feel that it is time to do so.
I don’t advise you to look for a free web hosting for your site. Call me bias. I don’t have good experience with many of them when I just started.
Another thing to take note is that most hosting companies do not allow hosting of “adult” stuff. So you will have to read the site term and condition before you proceed if this is what you want.
